I have a 25 foot 1998 Seacraft with twin 1998 Johnson 200 hp (non ficht) motors. The boat is in great condition and the motors run fine but they are getting old and they drink fuel like a college kid on spring break. I'm contemplating a repower in the next year or so that way I can still get something for my motors on trade. The boat is used in LI Sound and my family has boats in Pt Judith RI so I will never run this boat far offshore. To me the idea of a boat like this doing much over 40 kts is a joke first of all I won't run longer than 15 miles and if I ever sell it the next buyer probably won't use the speed above 40 kts because 90% of the time the seas won't allow it. With gas at $5.00 in the marina fuel burn is more important than speed. I'm really looking for a cruise around 30kts with low fuel burn, I do think for resale it does need a top end at around 40.My thought was actually a big single like a 250, 300 or 350 anyone have performance info? I also though possibly back to twin e-tec 200 hp (non hi output).
