I started the thread below a little while ago to inquire about some oily soot residue I was seeing around the upper exhaust outlet and on the transom:http://www.thehulltruth.com/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=182205&posts=20I had it checked out by a local Evinrude servicing dealer, they went all through the motor and could not find anything wrong. They confirmed the motor was set up for XD-100 oil and checked all of the items recommended on this forum, plus they contacted BRP. Their conclusion was that since the motor only has 21 hours on it, the sooting must be due to the extra oil used in the break in. They claim it is only noticable since the motor is white. But that doesn't explain the residue on the transom.I plan on running the boat this weekend, I'll scrub it clean before I go out and will see if it is still sooting.Have any other E-TEC 90 owners noticied this issue? When does it go away? The motor runs perfectly, I have no complaints at all except for the soot I see.As always, advice from the knowledge here is greatly appreciated.
