Unhappy Help with mahi mahi fishing miami

Hi guys, i realy have a problem and if someone can help it will be great, i have fish the mahi, dolphin, or dorado almost all over the world, but for some reason here in miami i am having a hard time with them, i had looked for them in the golf streem, 600' to150' no luck, even though i have to admit that early this year i saw them in 35' off houllover inlet, ofcourse they will not bite on anything, but my quest continue for the miami dolphin and not exactly the foot ball team, but no luck, try island lures with a nice ballihoo, colors blue and white, blue and yellow, and the infamous dolphing candy in every color, no luck, so here it goes if enyone out there have any tips please please, shere them, please, like i said i always go out of houllover inlet and go north as far as port everglades from 100' to 600' any help, tips will be greatly appresiated, may be i am doing this all wrong, help please. thanks

find some floating trash or weeds and through a little bait close to it and wait to see what shows up.
