That 23 pound cod taken from Swansea bay off the boat Sea Jay on 30 Dec 2007 was taken on a six inch long fillet of mackerel .. The guy had been using Ammo Frozen a bit earlier , but I do'nt know for sure if he actually used fresh or frozen for it ( I was on the boat ) but I suspect it was quality frozen .

fresh! on the northeast coast in january

no we use frozen.

but, its fillets i freeze myself not shop stuff

if you would really like to try using a large fish bait then do as we do and either use a spare rod or a 2 hook rig. bait the spare rod or second hook with the fish.

this way your main rod or one of your hooks will still be fishing with your favourite or most confident baits.
