Silva LX Headlamps
Looking to buy a new headlamp and saw the Silva LX range, just wondering if anyone has any experiences (good or bad) with these lamps? Is the 5wt LX enough to be used as a main lamp or is it more of a secondary headlight? Also were is the cheapest place to buy the lamp? Any info or reviews of the light would be much appreciated!
P.s - Not sure if I'm allowed to do this or if it should be in the classifieds, but to buy this lamp I'll be selling my Tiga SL12, if anyone is interested give me a pm and I can give more info/pictures/prices etc!!
As I said not sure if I can do that so mods if its a no-no just give me a pm! Thanks!!

I've got a Petzl with a 1W LED and that's more than sufficient for my needs. If you're scrambling over rocks and stuff then a 3W may be useful but personally I wouldn't need more than that.
A 5W LED is going to kick out some serious light. I've got a 3W torch and that's good for spotting stuff at close to 100m at night. If you need that much then fine, but you'll certainly not need anything else. I've not owned a Silva myself but have heard some good reports about them and their other stuff is all pretty rugged.
I think it's one of the first 5W headlamps around, with the advent of these I think the likes of Tiga and Samalite are going to lose significant trade. They kick out similar levels of light with far lower power consumption meaning smaller battery packs. The only concern I would have is possible overheating in the summer, but they have found a way around that.

If you haven't ordered it yet, I'll just throw a cheaper and to my mind good lamp in the mix, have a look at the princetontec apex 3w lamp, personally I find the lamp very good and wouldn't bother with the pro version with the CR123 batteries as if you get good 2700mah AA batteries the performance is very good and the batteries cheaper.
I got mine delivered from the USA for about 50 euros, I think Crazyplums on here is probably still selling some of them too.

i have owned and used the silva l1, for the last year or so, used it for both fishing and other night time activities and it's bright enough, and the batteries last for an age.

I got one of these last November a bit pricey (£75) but well worth it the 5 watt setting lasts apparently for 15 hours and is ideal for getting onto and off marks, and the other two settings are for baiting and casting, the light is white and a single led so you don't get that weird effect walking on rocks with multiple leds. I have only needed to charge it twice because on a low or middle setting the battery lasts for ages. The best price was through outdoorgb but a search on google will give you a better price if there is one.
