Spreader Bar Float Help Needed

I'm trying to build some of my own spreader bars for albacore fishing here in the NW. I'm rigging 6" squid and wanted to put the little floats inside of them. The floats I bought are 2" and torpedo shape and described as to fit the 6" squid.

Do you have any tricks to get them to slide into the squid? I tried to lube them with Pam cooking spray and the floats went in about half way before becoming stuck. I've already ruined two squid and I need about 50 of these rigged.

try Reel Draggin' Tackle for some floats. I know you said you have them, but sounds like they don't fit the squid. I have used their floats for the past few years & like them. Simple but effective.

I USE WD40. FLOATS GO IN SURPRISING EASY.

regular ole cooking oil. Make sure you you use a float, bead, crimp and complete the crimp. lube the squid and pull it through. A two inch torpedo float should fit into the squid without issue. the bead is crucial because it will stop the crimp from pulling through the cork.

i like to turn my squids inside out.. this helps me most of the time.. but the canyon runner ones are the same kind i use and they come in several different sizes and work the best!! they are hard and the entire point of the floats i use are not to only keep them floating but to hold the shape also!!

if they are not fitting go with a smaller float.. not much just alittle smaller!

We have been using and reusing these for years. They are just cheap bluegill bobber floats you can get them just about anywhere. They come in a few different sizes. I like to put the red ones in all my bars...Mark

Use a hair dryer to warm the squid up. That will let it stretch a little as you pull it over the float. WD-40 will help the process.
