Hello,
I am rebuilding the water pumps on my Yamaha 250 OX66's. One of the manuals calls for using 3M Weather Strip Adhesive (3M 8001 or 8008) over the 2 o-ring gaskets in the water pump housing. I cannot find it anywhere locally. What else can I use if anything? Sad, as the project was a whole bunch easier than I expected up until we hit this hurdle.

I use marine grease on those O rings, just enough tack to hold it in place while carefully assembled.
Also use marine grease in the new impeller cup.
Although a 4-stroke with some possible differences, SIM/Andy's Yam WP change guide is a good reference w/pics for the O-rings in question - http://www.thehulltruth.com/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=145363&start...

Mercruiser bellows adhesive works well too. You can use a little on one side to hold it inplace.....I still
coat the o-ring with grease....I use the 2-4-C teflon from Merc.....but I think any would be fine.
