this am
just got back in. Great day on the water, FAC, light south/sw breeze. water temp around 63.
Headed to nwc at 0400...Found whales, birds and sand eels galore but very little sign of tuna, other than the occasional one breaking the top (prob saw three smaller fish (40-50 lb range) and one that had to go 300+.) Water was about 120 feet. drifted a little and ran to about the 200 foot mark where we marked fish about 70 ft down working the sand eels. No tuna but big (35+ lb) bass who took sluggos and big knockoff butterfly jigs when the dogs didnt get to them first. This happened just about every time we headed off into deeper water. The shallow water had tons of bird and bait activity, but little pushing it.
Spent about and hour and half socked in heavy fog starting around 730ish with about 75 yd visibility. While we sat there, lots of radio chatter, but didnt hear of anyone hooked up except to bass.
