I wouldn t waste your time trying to pitch that rig low enough to troll. Your better off doing what the others suggested or investing in a separate out board motor like a 9.9 or 15 HP. Another suggestion is do not rely on GPS for determining trolling1

Thanks KP. I mentioned the gps speed because I did some testing on a static body of water. I normally fish in in-shore areas and there is always current to factor in.

according to the speedometer not gps . Twice this season I ve noticed that my speed had fallen off from this. Yesterday I was running at 4000-4200 rpm and that was barely giving me 30 mph, light load and 1 2 tank of gas.1

verify my speed with my gps next time I take it out. However, my speed drop off has been significant enough to notice without even looking at the speedometer. I will check the pick up though to see if it is clogged at all.
